Dramiński Ultrasound Scanner
Ultrasound examination of cows requires some specific preparation. During examination, the cow should be standing and calm, it should be led to a crate or a restainer. The vet or farmer must take the standard sanitary precautions when working in a cow farm: he should wear boots and coveralls, he must disinfect his hands and wear protective gloves covering his hands and arms. The ultrasound scanner must be disinfected. For practical purposes, the ultrasonography equipment can be placed on a wheelbarrow. To transmitt the signal well, the contact gel is needed. Gel is spread on the probe and animal’s skin. This prevents any air from getting between the skin and the probe, because it could effect image quality.
Many additional precautions must be taken by manufacturer’s of scanner. It is recommended to use a specially designed box for handling the scanner.
